Sourcing beanies from China: what to know
Reviewed guide · updated 17 Sept 2026India is one of the world's principal bracelet origins, spanning sterling silver and gemstone work, fine gold and diamonds, brass vermeil, and hand-embellished fashion pieces. SupplySpark lists 108 bracelet manufacturers in India, 77% with independent registry, customs, or review evidence. Jaipur leads with 29 suppliers, followed by Mumbai (21) and Delhi with New Delhi (20), and the pool is built for small-batch custom work: 88 suppliers offer custom design, and of the 61 publishing a minimum order, 55 accept 50 units or fewer.
Three cities, three specialties
Jaipur is the gemstone-cutting and silver-jewelry capital, represented in the listings by Valentine Silver and Gallant Jewelry, both working in 925 silver with gemstones under Responsible Jewellery Council credentials. Mumbai concentrates diamond and fine-gold manufacturing around its export zones, as with Sunjewels and Creation Gems, while Delhi and Gurugram carry the fashion and costume segment, illustrated by Grace Fashion Accessories with cuff bracelets, bangles, and embroidered pieces. Deciding early whether your range is fine, demi-fine, or fashion tells you which city and which supplier type to shortlist, because the three segments rarely share workshops.
Materials, plating, and compliance
For demi-fine bracelets, specify metal standard, stone type and grade, plating composition and thickness in microns, and any anti-tarnish treatment, since plating durability is the most common quality complaint in this category. For Western markets, restricted-substance compliance is non-negotiable: nickel release limits under EU REACH, plus lead and cadmium limits in the EU and US, should be written into the purchase order with third-party test reports on production lots. In our experience, requesting a plating specification sheet and a recent metals test report is the fastest way to separate export-ready workshops from domestic-market makers.
Certifications and responsible sourcing
Formal certification runs thinner in jewelry than in apparel, which makes the credentials that do exist more meaningful: 14 listed suppliers hold Responsible Jewellery Council certification, 15 hold Sedex SMETA, 15 ISO 9001, and 5 amfori BSCI, and Gallant Jewelry additionally holds RJC Chain of Custody. RJC membership signals audited practice on sourcing, labor, and business ethics, and chain-of-custody certification supports recycled or traceable metal claims. Since only 77% of the pool carries independent evidence, combine certificate checks with registry verification and export history before advancing any workshop to sampling, and ask who actually casts, sets, and plates if work is shared across units.
MOQs, sampling, and commercial practice
The MOQ profile is the most accessible in this series: 55 of the 61 publishing suppliers accept 50 pieces or fewer, and several representative workshops list minimums of a single piece, which suits collection testing and made-to-order models. Sampling is offered by 44 suppliers, and sample charges are normal and typically credited against bulk orders. Silver pricing floats with the metal market, so expect quotes tied to the silver rate and agree on how metal price movements are handled between order and delivery. Allow three to five weeks for sampling and four to eight weeks for production, and use insured, trackable shipping with declared values on every parcel.
Questions to ask before you sample
- Which processes run in your own workshop, and which of casting, stone setting, and plating are outsourced?
- What plating thickness in microns and what anti-tarnish treatment are you quoting, and how do you test durability?
- Will you provide third-party nickel, lead, and cadmium test reports on my production lot?
- How is the silver or gold price fixed in your quote, and what happens if the metal market moves before delivery?
- Are you RJC certified, and can you support recycled-metal claims with chain-of-custody documentation?
- What are your sample charges and timeline, and are they credited against the bulk order?
