Sourcing rings from Turkey: what to know
Reviewed guide · updated 16 Sept 2026Rings are the most design-intensive item in jewelry sourcing, and Turkey's workshops cover the full range from cast fashion rings in sterling silver to diamond-set gold wedding bands. SupplySpark lists 36 ring manufacturers in Turkey, 28 of them in Istanbul, but only 31 percent carry independent evidence from registry, customs or reviewed sources, which is low and makes verification the first priority. This guide covers the supplier base, production methods and minimums, how gold and silver pricing works, certifications and compliance, and logistics.
The supplier base
Of the 36 suppliers, 21 describe themselves as manufacturers, 6 as manufacturer and trader, 3 as brands and 2 as retailers. Custom design is offered by 24 and OEM by 20, which fits a category where buyers usually bring their own designs. Koçak Gold in Istanbul produces 14K and 22K rings and wedding bands with IGI-certified diamonds. Karakaş Atlantis in Izmir makes gold wedding rings and diamond rings and holds ISO 9001. Met Jewelry works in lightweight fine gold from 8K to 22K under RJC Code of Practices, and Mioro holds RJC membership alongside ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Petek Gümüş in Istanbul is a sterling silver specialist covering men's and women's rings, including stone-set, oxidized and marcasite styles, from 24 pieces. Ilyasoglu supplies boho and silver rings from one piece.
Production methods and minimums
Most rings are produced by lost-wax casting from a master model, now typically built in CAD and 3D printed, followed by finishing, stone setting and plating; handmade and pressed methods are used for wedding bands and heavier pieces. The one-off cost is the master model and mold per design, which is why all 9 suppliers that publish an MOQ accept 50 units or fewer. Size runs are the other constraint: agree the ring sizes and the count per size, since each size is a separate casting, and confirm whether the workshop grades to EU, UK or US sizing. Sampling typically takes two to four weeks and bulk three to six weeks.
Pricing, certifications and compliance
Gold and silver rings are priced by metal weight at the day's fixing plus a making charge, with stones and setting quoted separately, so ask for grams per piece and per size. Certification is thin: ISO 9001 at 2 suppliers and single instances of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and Responsible Jewellery Council. Where diamonds are involved, ask for grading reports from IGI or GIA and a Kimberley Process statement. For EU sale, request nickel release testing under EN 1811 and lead and cadmium results under REACH, especially on plated silver or brass, and confirm hallmarking or assay for precious metal.
Negotiation and vetting
Fix the metal price basis and currency in writing and state whether it is locked at order or at shipment. Because 69 percent of the listed suppliers lack independent evidence, verify the trade registry and tax number, ask for two export references and have the first delivery independently assayed and weighed. Brands and retailers in the listing will typically outsource production, so ask who casts and sets the ring. Check samples for porosity, prong security, plating adhesion and size accuracy.
Logistics
Precious metal rings classify under HS 7113 and plated fashion rings under HS 7117. Goods in free circulation enter the EU duty-free with an A.TR certificate. Ship by insured courier or a valuables carrier, and agree the customs valuation method and insurance limit before the first shipment.
Questions to ask before you sample
- Do you cast and set in your own workshop, and which steps such as CAD modeling, plating or stone setting are outsourced?
- What is the master model and mold cost per design, and who owns the model after production?
- How is the price built: grams per size, metal price basis, making charge, and stone and setting cost?
- Can you supply diamond grading reports and, for precious metal, an assay or hallmark certificate?
- Which ring sizing standard do you grade to, and what count per size do you require?
- Can you provide nickel release and REACH test reports for the finished pieces?
- Which importers or brands in our market have you shipped to, and can we contact two of them?
