Sourcing shirts and blouses from Indonesia: what to know
Reviewed guide · updated 23 Sept 2026Indonesia’s shirt and blouse supplier base combines woven-garment factories, uniform makers, batik producers and broader apparel manufacturers. SupplySpark lists 21 suppliers, with independent registry, customs or reviewed evidence for 62% of them. The representative profiles span Bandung, Surabaya, South Jakarta, Denpasar and Solo, covering casual and formal shirts, blouses, uniforms, rayon garments and batik styles. Published MOQs are relatively accessible: among 12 suppliers that disclose one, eight are at 50 units or fewer and four are at 51–200 units. Custom design is offered by 19 suppliers, sampling by 14, OEM by 13 and private label by 13. That makes the market useful for brands developing differentiated woven tops, provided buyers verify fabric sourcing, workmanship, factory identity and current compliance before bulk production.
Define the shirt or blouse construction precisely
A sourcing brief should distinguish formal shirts, casual woven shirts, fashion blouses, uniforms and traditional or batik-based styles. Representative suppliers illustrate the range: PT. World KNK Surya Anugerah lists shirts, blouses, dresses and uniforms; PT Putrateja Sempurna lists casual and formal shirts; PT Mega Putra Garment makes uniform shirts and blouses; and PT Andjani Andjana Indonesia lists Cirebon-batik women’s tops. Typically, specify fabric composition, weave, weight, shrinkage target, collar and cuff construction, placket, darts, pocket details, interlining, stitch density and finishing. Fashion blouses may require drape and delicate handling, while uniforms usually prioritize repeatability and durability.
Use the low MOQ profile for development, but confirm the unit
The published MOQ data is favorable for smaller programs: all 12 suppliers that disclose a minimum are at 200 units or fewer, with eight at 50 units or fewer. Still, ask whether the minimum is per style, fabric, color or purchase order. In our experience, custom-dyed fabric, printed artwork, special buttons, branded labels and exclusive trims can create upstream minimums above the sewing MOQ. PT Andjani Andjana Indonesia publishes 80 units and PT Asia Garment Internasional 60, while PT. World KNK Surya Anugerah publishes 200. Request price breaks at several quantities and separate sample costs from production pricing.
Control fabric, fit and pre-production approval
For shirts and blouses, fabric behavior drives much of the final quality. Typically, test shrinkage, colorfastness, skew, pilling where relevant and appearance after laundering. Confirm whether fabric inspection, cutting, fusing, embroidery, printing and washing are in-house or subcontracted. Sampling should establish the fit block, collar shape, sleeve pitch, cuff and placket dimensions, button spacing and seam finish before bulk production. For batik or printed products, approve artwork scale, placement and shade tolerance. Use a sealed pre-production sample with a measurement chart and workmanship standard so inspectors can judge production against an agreed reference rather than subjective expectations.
Verify social, quality and material certifications
The listed supplier set includes GOTS on three profiles; CTPAT, OEKO-TEX, ISO 9001, Better Work and GRS on two each; and WRAP and SA8000 on one each. These standards cover different areas, so map them to the buyer’s actual requirement. A social-compliance audit does not replace textile chemical testing, and a material standard does not prove workmanship quality. Request current documents showing the legal entity, factory address, validity and scope. Where organic or recycled claims are required, typically verify the applicable chain-of-custody paperwork for the order, not only the supplier’s general certificate list.
Price the program around fabric and logistics
Fabric is typically the largest cost driver in woven shirts and blouses, followed by sewing complexity, trims, finishing and order size. Compare quotations using the same fabric specification and Incoterm, and clarify whether labels, buttons, interlining, packaging, testing and inspection are included. Indonesia’s island geography can affect inland movement and consolidation, so confirm the factory location, export port and handover point in the production calendar. Before shipment, inspection should typically cover measurements, shade and print consistency, collar and cuff symmetry, button attachment, seam quality, pressing, labeling and packing. Confirm the HS classification, origin documentation and destination-market requirements with your customs broker before the first order.
Questions to ask before you sample
- Which shirt or blouse constructions and fabric types do you produce most often?
- Is the MOQ calculated per style, color, fabric or total purchase order?
- Which fabric, printing, embroidery, washing and finishing processes are in-house versus subcontracted?
- What shrinkage, colorfastness and measurement tolerances can you commit to in bulk?
- Which current certifications cover the exact factory and materials used for my order?
- What are the sample, fabric-booking and bulk-production lead times?
- Which factory location, export port, Incoterm and packaging assumptions are included in the quote?
